What Is the Difference Between Airflow and Static Pressure?

Selection Details

Airflow indicates how much air a fan can move over a given period. When the equipment has an open internal layout and low airflow resistance, airflow is often one of the main selection criteria. Static pressure indicates the fan's ability to move air against system resistance. If the airflow path includes filters, heat sinks, dense components, narrow ducts or long ventilation paths, static pressure must be considered together with airflow. Fan selection should therefore be based on the actual airflow path and resistance of the equipment.
